The Freshwater ecology group operates a research boat equipped for monitoring and research activities on Lake Lugano. Onboard instruments enable the collection of water samples, biological samples, microplastics, and the real-time measurement of chemical, physical, and biological parameters at various depths.
Additionally, in the southern basin of Lake Lugano, there is a floating platform equipped with sensor chains for high-frequency, real-time measurement of various chemical, physical, and biological parameters (e.g., oxygen, temperature, algal pigments). This platform is managed in collaboration with the Geomatics group.
